ABOUT ME
Hey! I’m a 17-year-old student-athlete with a passion for basketball. I’ve been playing the game for as long as I can remember — it’s where I challenge myself, build discipline, and find motivation to keep improving both on and off the court.
When I’m not training or playing, I focus on school and developing my skills to prepare for future opportunities. I believe in hard work, teamwork, and staying consistent in everything I do — whether it’s in the classroom or during a tough game.Basketball isn’t just a sport to me, it’s a lifestyle that pushes me to stay driven and aim higher every day.
Balancing Academics and Personal Interests
Genaro’s daily routine is centered on his academic responsibilities, particularly in STEM subjects that require strong focus and commitment. As a Grade 12 student, he is at an important stage where his academic performance can significantly impact his college opportunities. To stay on track, he sets clear goals and prioritizes his tasks effectively. He uses a planner to organize study sessions, project deadlines, and review periods, which helps him avoid last-minute cramming and manage stress more efficiently.
Beyond academics, Genaro engages in various hobbies that help him stay motivated and refreshed. Playing basketball provides him with regular physical activity and a healthy break from screen time. He also enjoys online games, which allow him to connect with friends and sharpen his strategic thinking skills. Watching movies and series helps him relax and explore different stories and cultures, while listening to music boosts his mood during study breaks. Additionally, cooking and photography serve as creative outlets that allow him to experiment and express himself outside the classroom. Playing basketball has been an important part of my life as a student. I had the opportunity to represent my school as a varsity basketball player
which taught me valuable lessons about discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. Being part of the varsity team required me to balance academics with intense training, practices, and competitions. This experience helped me develop strong time-management skills and a sense of responsibility, as I needed to perform well both on the court and in the classroom. Representing my school also boosted my confidence and motivated me to push myself to become better not only as an athlete, but also as a student.
Exploring Technology Through Empowerment Technologies
One of my main academic interests is technology, particularly how digital tools can enhance communication, creativity, and productivity. My subject, Empowerment Technologies, plays an important role in developing these skills. Through this course, I have learned how to use software for presentations and reports, create digital art and multimedia projects, manage online collaboration tools for group work, and understand basic coding and web design principles.
These skills are not only useful for school but also help prepare me for future career opportunities in technology-related fields. One meaningful experience was when I created a simple website to showcase my photography portfolio. This hands-on project boosted my confidence and gave me a clearer idea of what working in the technology field might involve.
Family Support and Personal Growth
I come from a family of six with two siblings, and my family plays a vital role in my academic journey and personal growth. My parents consistently encourage me to pursue my interests and support me during stressful times. My siblings also help by sharing study tips and motivating me to stay focused on my goals.
Personal growth is very important to me. I believe that self-improvement goes beyond academic grades and includes developing discipline, responsibility, and resilience. I practice time management daily and work on improving my study habits. When I experience setbacks, such as receiving a low test score, I reflect on my mistakes and plan ways to improve rather than feeling discouraged.

Staying Motivated Through Challenges
Balancing schoolwork and personal interests can be challenging, but I use several strategies to stay motivated. I set small, achievable goals to track my progress, reward myself after completing tasks, stay connected with friends who share similar goals, and remind myself of my long-term vision. These strategies help me overcome difficulties and stay focused on my objectives.
Engaging E-Tech Activities and Learning Experiences
During the first week of Empowerment Technologies, I was introduced to the subject and its focus on using technology effectively for learning, communication, and productivity. Our teacher explained the importance of ICT in modern society and how it affects areas such as education, business, and entertainment. We also discussed the topics we would cover throughout the semester, including website creation, online collaboration, and digital responsibility.
Learning about Web 1.0, Web 2.0, and Web 3.0 helped me understand how the internet has evolved—from simple static pages to interactive platforms and intelligent systems. This lesson made me realize how important digital skills are in today’s world and how they will become even more valuable in the future.
We also learned about online safety and digital citizenship. This lesson taught me the importance of protecting personal information, using strong passwords, avoiding suspicious links, and behaving responsibly online. I became more aware of how my actions on social media and online games can affect my digital footprint and future opportunities.
Reflection and ICT Growth
Planning my blog and website helped me understand the importance of organization and creativity in digital projects. I learned that proper planning makes content clearer, more structured, and easier to understand. As someone interested in photography, I appreciated how websites and blogs can be used as personal portfolios to showcase creative work.
Overall, my Empowerment Technologies experience taught me that ICT is more than just using devices—it is about using technology responsibly, creatively, and effectively. ICT has helped me become more productive, more creative, and more aware as a digital citizen. I now see it as an essential life skill that will support me in college, my future career, and my personal development.
Our field trip to Star City was an enjoyable and meaningful experience that allowed me to learn outside the classroom while strengthening my bond with my classmates. The trip gave us a break from our usual school routine, but it also helped us develop important social skills such as teamwork, cooperation, and responsibility.
During the visit, I enjoyed exploring the different rides and attractions, which made the experience exciting and memorable. Beyond the fun, the field trip taught me the importance of following rules, managing my time, and being mindful of my behavior in public places. Being with my classmates in a different environment helped me appreciate the value of friendship and collaboration.
The Star City field trip also helped reduce stress from academic work and allowed me to relax and recharge. After the trip, I felt more motivated and refreshed, ready to focus again on my studies. Overall, the experience showed me that learning does not only happen inside the classroom—it can also happen through shared experiences that promote personal growth, responsibility, and positive relationships.
